Welcome to Resilience Design

• Ecological landscape stewardship + consultation

• Collaborations to engage, inspire and honor the land

Who We Are:

Resilience Design was founded by Mulysa Melco, an ecological designer, educator, and lifelong gardener with a background in permaculture, horticulture, and urban planning. Her work is grounded in the belief that land care is both a personal and collective responsibility.

Mulysa, her partner Paola, and her extended team of collaborators bring deep knowledge, practical skill, and a long-view perspective to each project. Whether consulting on forest recovery, designing habitat gardens, or mentoring clients in seasonal care, the team approaches every project as a node in a web of interbeing.

Our work is rooted in relationship, and shaped by years of experience across urban and rural environments in the Pacific Northwest.

What We Do:

We Specialize In:

  • Ecological land stewardship planning

  • Watershed-scale analysis & site assessment

  • Native plant integration & pollinator habitat design

  • Tree health evaluations & long-term care strategies

  • Collaborative planning with architects & builders

  • Permaculture-informed design frameworks

  • Plus a local plant and seed shop! (Pick up only)

We offer land-based design services that move beyond conventional landscaping. Our work is rooted in ecological understanding and shaped through collaboration with clients, skilled partners, and the living land.

From forested acreage recovering from logging to home-scale pollinator gardens, we help people build meaningful relationships with their place through planning, care, and long-term stewardship.

Our Services:

  • Land Stewardship Planning

We specialize in long-view planning for properties of 1–100+ acres. This work may include ecological assessments, mapping, native plant planning, fire risk strategies, forest management prescriptions, and long-term care guidance.

  • Residential Master Planning

From habitat-rich backyards to edible landscapes and healing gardens, we co-create spaces that support people and place. Every design is grounded in the site’s ecology, your vision, and our shared future.

  • Ecological Tree Care

With our partner Prunus, we offer holistic, life-cycle approach to tree care—from planting and pruning to habitat snags and beyond.

  • Drip Irrigation for Engaged Land Owners

DIY to full-install options for establishing resilient plantings and supporting landscapes in drought and heat.

  • Pruning Coaching
