Spiraea splendens (aka Spiraea densiflora)
Native along the West Coast from British Columbia down through central California. Also called Rosy Spirea. This small, deciduous shrub blooms with dense, pink flowers that attract beneficial pollinators and hosts caterpillars for native moths and butterflies. The leaves turn oranges and reds as the weather cools, displaying beautiful autumn colors. Wonderful in rain gardens, rock gardens and to provide structure in wildflower meadows.
Grows 1-3' tall and 2-3' wide. Thrives in full sun to part shade in moist, well-draining soils.
