Cooley's Hedgenettle
Stachys cooleyae
A tall native perennial in the mint family (not related to stinging nettle) with a fragrant, pungent scent when crushed.
A favorite with hummingbirds and butterflies! Bright pink flowers all summer provide a lot of nectar forage.
This species likes a moist spot and is excellent in rain gardens, riparian edges, low spots and hedgerows. Tends to spread slowly by rhizomes to form patches. May reseed very lightly over time.
Grows 3-5 ft tall. Plant in part shade to quite a bit of shade, or full sun if there is a lot of moisture.
