Cornus sericea 'Flaviramea'

Aka Cornus stolonifera

A variety of our native red twig dogwood that has bright chartreuse stems. Excellent for winter interest. White flowers bloom in early summer followed by white to pale blue berries that are fuel for fall songbird migration. Great in rain gardens, hedgerows and as a backdrop for flower borders. Stems are wonderful in winter arrangements and wreaths, and can be used in crafts and basketry.

Cut back a few of the oldest stems to the ground each year in late winter to promote colorful new growth. Can also be coppiced. Dogwoods tend to sucker over time to form slowly spreading thickets.

Plant in full sun to light shade. Occasional summer water is best, but can tolerate dry summers once established. Tolerant of moist soil and seasonally saturated soils.

Grows 6-8’ tall and as wide.
