ONAGRACEAE, The Evening Primrose family

Native perennial with bright pink summer blooms. Seed have a fluffy dispersal attachment. Attracts bumblebees and hummingbirds. Edible and medicinal. Often one of the first plants to reestablish after forest fire or disturbance.

Plant in full sun to light shade. Likes occasional summer water.

Grows 2 - 8’ tall and spread by rhizomes, especially in moist soil.
