Also called mountain strawberry, wild strawberry or broad-leaved strawberry. This native, fruiting groundcover can be found in meadows, open woodlands and along streambanks up and down the western side of Turtle Island. They are semi-evergreen in our region, with leaves turning red in winter. In spring, they produce lovely white flowers, followed by small, sweet berries in early summer.
Prefers full sun to part shade, and are generally happy as long as they are getting water! Will spread by runners (not too vigorously) and create a beautiful groundcover.
