Rosa woodsii
Native to much of western Turtle Island. They grow as a dense thicket, with small compound leaflets along reddish-brown stems, and not as prickly as other wild roses. Pink, five-petaled flowers bloom in the late spring or summer, followed by orange-red hips that stay through the winter.
Prefers full sun to part shade and moist to semi-dry soil, but will need some summer water. Great in a hedgerow or to control soil erosion.
